The Fruity Way
to Better Health
BY TRISTINE DENISE
When you think of fruit, you tend to think of summer. Why? Because fruit is refreshing, cool, and sweet. It’s the perfect snack for warm weather. But fruit has other powers besides cooling us off on a hot summer day. There are many health benefits from eating fruit that you may not be aware of.
Fruit contains vitamins and minerals that can:
Help you lose or control weight
Provide more energy
Reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer
Lower blood pressure and cholesterol
Manage diabetes

Sweet Tooth
Aside from the health benefits, fruit can be a cure for that nagging sweet tooth. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved sweets. As an adult, I still crave a good sweet after dinner, and there’s no better way to relieve that craving than with a good, fresh fruit. I love the zing of an orange as it bursts open when I take a bite. The combination of fresh berries mixed in yogurt combine a wild array of tart, tangy and sweet tastes. My all-time favorite fruit is the banana. I like them when the skin begins showing age spots and the nana is soft and loaded with creamy flavor.
There are so many ways you can create sweet treats with fruit; the possibilities are endless. And combining different fruits with one another only adds to the sweet pleasure of feeding that sweet tooth.
