The Married
Single Mom

There is a phenomenon sweeping the country that is known as the Married Single Mom. These devoted women find themselves precariously balanced between caring for children and maintaining a household while the Disappearing Dads are away. Typically, this juggling act is performed between two parents, but more and more, the Married Single Mom is finding herself holding the rope because Disappearing Dad has become one of the following:

The Diligently Working Dad
By now, you and your Disappearing Dad have probably realized that the old saying “money doesn’t grow on trees” is absolutely true. Furthermore, you have probably repeated this time-worn saying to your own children and then rushed out of the room wondering how you can channel your own parents so quickly. Since greenbacks are a commodity that seems to fly out of the bank account every month, someone has to work to restore the order. So Diligently Working Dad takes the role as the breadwinner and heads out into the working world early each morning only to return late each night in no mood to change diapers, help with homework or grab a mop to clean up the dog’s latest mess. Diligently Working Dad may even have the idea that his work is done once he walks through the door, although he probably knows better than to utter the phrase that has launched a thousand fights: “Just what do you do all day around here?”
